THE TALK
His first steps. His first haircut. His first game.
You’ve been there with words of encouragement and guidance.
Preparing your son for adolescence and young adulthood means preparing them for the joys and the hurdles. These hurdles hit young Black men especially hard. Systemic racism and lack of health care—including sexual health resources—put our young men at risk. Young Black men are diagnosed with HIV eight times more than young white men. Though sex is everywhere they turn and part of their reality, we rarely talk about the consequences of not being safe...
Research shows when parents speak openly and honestly about sex, their kids make better and safer decisions. But we know it's not always easy to have these conversations.
That’s why we launched The Talk—a combination of educational resources, videos and podcasts that help parents have the talk and break the cycle of misinformation about sex, HIV, and so much more. While The Talk was created for fathers, it’s helpful for mothers, too.
Now’s the time to protect his future, their future, our future. Whether it's starting the conversation, or finding the right words or the right time, The Talk is here to help. Learn more on The Talk Toolkit and publications pages.
